(the trailer as posted above displays a more hollywood-alike-posi setting than the overall vibe of the documentary itself. go watch the full thing, it’s impressive)

i just watched this incredible documentary called ‘bully’ (2011), about three kids in high- and middle school who are victims of being bullied. besides that this doc. shows the tragic story and background of these kids, it also exposes how a failing school system (in the sense of ‘doing something against bullying’) simply ruin these kids’ lives. these three cases in iowa and oklahoma - but i guess this can be projected on any high school in any state or country - show how unaware schools are handling this immense problem, by simply doing nothing or looking the other way. this, in combination w/ the innocent and insecure attitude of these kids (look at one of the main persons followed in this documentary, alex libby), makes these boys and girl simply a weak and easy target. the makers of ‘bully’ documented all the participants in this case very well, both the victims and the school boards (which in my opinion could are presented slightly ‘soft’, since they are the core of the problem) and hopefully make the viewers aware of the stuff that’s going on behind closed school doors.
it made/makes me really fucking sad.
